THE BENEFITS OF SAUNAS AND STEAM BATHS
Finnish saunas and infrared saunas are ideal places to relieve tension and combat physical and mental stress. The saunas available at Gaia Interni are made from natural fir or Hemlock wood and combine reliability and safety with a comfortable and welcoming environment.
In addition to the traditional heating system with a stone heater, we also offer bio saunas: the perfect compromise between a SAUNA AND STEAM BATH, combining the lava stone heater of a traditional Finnish sauna with the steam jet typical of a hammam. The benefits of a sauna are numerous:
- perspiration promotes the regeneration of skin cells, helping to make the skin softer;
- the heat of the sauna can also relax the body's muscles, creating a pleasant feeling of well-being.
RELAXING MOMENTS IN YOUR OWN HOME
Today, it is possible to enjoy the benefits of a sauna in your own home at relatively affordable prices. How do you choose the sauna that best suits your needs? At Gaia Interni, you will find a variety of wooden sauna models.
Finnish sauna
The traditional model is the Finnish sauna: a wooden cabin featuring hot, dry air with temperatures ranging from 75°C to 100°C. Electric heaters are used to heat the sauna and contain large, heavy, dark stones capable of storing as much thermal energy as possible. Saunas are usually equipped with large wooden benches where you can sit or lie down, as well as a bucket of water to pour over the hot stones with a ladle to produce steam. After leaving the sauna, we recommend taking a shower with water at room temperature to help bring your body temperature back to normal.
Models with chromotherapy
You can also choose a sauna with chromotherapy, equipped with integrated LED lights in various colors that can be combined in RGB mode.
Each color has its own wavelength and frequency, which can influence the limbic system and create a sense of balance and harmony. This is why colors have been used since ancient times to promote psychophysical well-being.
HOW DOES A SAUNA WORK?
A sauna can be considered a dry heat bath. Unlike a hammam, which is characterized by humid steam, a sauna features intense, dry heat that causes perspiration on the skin to evaporate. A sauna session is generally limited to 10-15 minutes. Using a sauna can help reduce anxiety and everyday stress and is also used to support rapid recovery from muscular strain and strengthen the body's natural defenses. Finally, the sauna helps eliminate impurities, leaving the skin looking brighter. Since the sauna is considered a dry environment with very little humidity, it contains a heater with lava stones which, when heated, help generate heat. When water is poured over these stones, they create a sensation of humidity in an environment that can reach temperatures of up to 90°C.
Differences between a sauna and a steam bath
At first glance, saunas and steam baths may seem similar, but they differ in several ways that can influence the choice of one over the other. The main difference lies in the materials used to build them: saunas are usually made of wood, while steam bath environments are generally made of stone or marble. In both cases, seating is positioned at different heights according to the desired temperature: generally, in a sauna the temperature at the lowest level is around 50°C and at the middle level around 75°C, while the highest bench can reach temperatures of up to 85°C. By contrast, in a steam bath the temperature difference is smaller, ranging from 20-25°C in the lower areas to 40-45°C in the upper areas.
